The Good News theme for the 2010-2011 school year is The Name of Jesus!

Philippians 2: 10-11 tells us that “at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.” There is no doubt that Jesus’ name is truly the most recognized name on earth. But what about the other names that the Bible gives us for Jesus? We refer to him as Christ, Lord, Immanuel, Good Shepherd, and even Teacher, among others.

To further explore the meanings of these names we have highlighted one of the biblical titles given to Jesus for each month of the school year. Look for the words “Name of Jesus ...” near the beginning of each month. The Bible verse and questions for that week draw special attention to Jesus’ name. Throughout the year students relationship with Jesus will grow as they learn more about their friend and Savior.

The Good News Word of the Week (W.O.W) is selected from the weekly Bible verse. This verse can be used as memory work for the week.

Through Daily Exercises, students learn the meaning of this word and how it relates to the Bible story.

Word mastery and story familiarity will stay with children through their lives, helping them to become literate in the language of Scripture and at home with Church life in prayer and worship.
